Then the test opening of the park for guests and participants of the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi took place! Giving a start to the 10th anniversary year of the Sochi Park, we allow ourselves to be a little nostalgic and remember how it all began.
Located on the border with the Olympic Park, within walking distance from the main sports complexes, Sochi Park and the Bogatyr Castle Hotel are also Olympic heritage and satellites of the Winter Games.
The construction of Russia's huge first themed entertainment area and the Bogatyr Castle hotel was completed in a record three years, the work was carried out in an absolutely deserted place before that.
The main festive events of the opening took place in Sochi Park. On the first day of work – February 7, 2014 – guests could ride four family and children's rides, and the grandiose extreme slides that Sochi Park is now proud of were only in the project. But even then, the new entertainment area gathered thousands of rave reviews as a unique place telling about Russian culture through a fairy tale. The celebration was attended by 100 artists – acrobats and gymnasts, stilt walkers and mimes, actors of original genres, and the opening headliners were the variety theater group Strange Fruits (Australia).
During the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, Sochi Park was visited by more than 140,000 guests. At that time, the Bogatyr Castle Hotel hosted sports delegations and refereeing teams.
After the Winter Games, the park was closed for final work, and the official opening to the general public took place on June 1, 2014. For ten years now, the Bogatyr Castle has remained a unique holiday destination, attracting tourists from all over the country with a high level of comfort and quality of service, special hospitality and, of course, a real fairy tale. We are proud of numerous awards and titles, including the title of the best family hotel in Russia according to the TripAdvisor rating.
"10 years have passed, but the energetic start that was given on February 7, 2014, still supports the dynamics of development. We are not lowering the bar we have set from the very beginning, the figures show this. The Bogatyr Castle Hotel annually sets records, taking the leading position in terms of occupancy in the coastal cluster, in 2023 it amounted to 83%.
Sochi Park, on the territory of which Bogatyr is located, is also growing, developing and showing results every day. In ten years, 23 attractions have opened, two more are about to appear, a dolphinarium, a sovarium, an atomarium, a mini zoo, an arcade pavilion, a children's indoor entertainment complex and other facilities. We are developing animation – we are making our own shows even more ambitious, involving more than a hundred artists," says Lyudmila Kuznetsova, General Director of Sochi Park.
